"Mirror (Kagami)" is a separate treatment of the mirror subject — whether the same composition as the "Eight Women of Modern Times" version or a distinct work is uncertain, but Onchi returned to the mirror multiple times as a subject that implicitly reflected on the nature of representation itself. The mirror as a device within the image that creates an image of the image's subject was a natural preoccupation for a printmaker interested in the theory and practice of image-making. Each mirror print is also, implicitly, a meditation on printmaking itself.
