Rahula in the "Two Bodhisattva and Ten Great Disciples of Sakyanmuni" (carved 1939/1948) appears in a version of the series that may represent either the original printing or an intermediate state between the 1939 carving and the 1968 reprinting documented for other prints in the series. The Buddha's son as disciple carried a narrative of inheritance transformed: the worldly inheritance of a warrior kingdom replaced by the spiritual inheritance of the Dharma, the princely expectation surrendered for the freedom of the renunciant life.
