Description
Cherry Blossoms at Ueno (1925) by Takahashi Shotei is a color woodblock print showing two women in kimono seated beneath a thatched-roof pavilion, framed by a gnarled cherry tree in full white-pink bloom. Beyond them, a blue-gray lake dotted with small boats and a sailboat stretches toward a hazy far shore under an overcast sky rendered with fine diagonal rain lines. The palette combines soft whites and pinks of the blossoms with muted grays, blues, and greens in the water and grass below.
