Description
A slender wooden bridge with railings spans a calm river, its form and that of a cluster of thatched-roof buildings reflected in the still water below. A bare, slightly leaning tree stands at the left bank beneath a thin crescent moon, set against a sky graduating from pale pink and orange near the horizon to deep blue-grey above, with a dark mountain silhouette in the distance. Small dark figures cross the bridge, and the overall palette of indigo, rose, and silhouette-black conveys a quiet dusk scene. Woodblock print, "Sakawa Bridge in Evening," Takahashi Shotei, year unknown.
