Description
A peddler in a straw rain hat and shaggy fur or straw cape walks through falling snow at night, carrying two covered loads balanced on a pole across his shoulders. Behind him a second, smaller figure follows under a red umbrella, holding a round lantern. The scene is rendered in dark indigo and black for the night sky, with streaks of snow, muted grays and browns for the ground, and a single spot of red-orange accent in the umbrella and lantern; distant rooftops are faintly silhouetted along the horizon.
