Description

A five-story pagoda rises above dense trees on the far bank of a still pond, its reflection mirrored in the blue-green water below. Weeping willow branches drape down from the upper right and left corners, framing the scene, while a lone figure holding an umbrella walks along the distant shore under visible streaks of falling rain. The palette is dominated by deep blues and greens under an overcast sky, giving the whole composition a quiet, rain-hushed mood. Tsuchiya Koitsu, "Kofukuji Temple," 1937, woodblock print.
