Space Voice — うつろな声

Space Voice (うつろな声)—the hollow or empty voice, a sound that echoes in vast open spaces—is one of Azechi's more abstract titles, suggesting a composition concerned with acoustic experience translated into visual terms, or perhaps with the emotional quality of isolation that produces a voice calling into emptiness. The mountain world was for him also a world of particular acoustic experience: the echo of a shout across a cirque, the sound of wind in the exposed ridges, the profound silence of snowfall.
