Description
Lake Hakone, the caldera lake at the center of the Hakone volcanic complex, mirrors Mt. Fuji on clear mornings across its still surface. Hiratsuka's woodblock captures this classic Fuji-and-lake composition in the early morning hour when mist, water, and mountain exist in temporary equilibrium. The print is among his most serene Fuji subjects, the mountain's reflection doubling its presence.
