The Shōsō-in at Tōdai-ji in Nara — the 8th-century imperial treasury built in azekura log-cabin construction — is rendered in 1958 with Hiratsuka's ink-on-paper woodblock technique. The treasury's distinctive raised-floor log structure is among the most photographed buildings in Japan, and Hiratsuka renders it with the structural clarity that makes his architectural documentation so valuable. The Shōsō-in houses imperial treasures from the reign of Emperor Shōmu.
