One of the most iconic designs from One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, and the direct inspiration for two paintings by Vincent van Gogh. A Christie's Online sale in 2014 achieved GBP 11,000 (~$14,000) for a good example.
Kameido Tenjin, the Tenman shrine in the Kameido district east of the Sumida, was famous above all for its wisteria — long-hanging purple blooms that draped over a pond in late spring and attracted thousands of visitors. This numbered Edo view likely shows the shrine during the wisteria season, the flowers cascading over the water between the shrine's iconic arched bridges.
