Description

A diptych with each panel dominated by a large round moon rendered in silver leaf—pale and luminous on the left panel, darkened almost to black with a jagged, eclipse-like edge on the right. Below the moons, dense clusters of grasses, vines, and small flowers (including red and blue blossoms on the right panel) grow across a low horizon line rendered in mottled silver and grey leaf, with a small gold-leaf rectangle inset in the lower-left area of each composition. The palette is otherwise muted silver, grey, and black, giving both panels a subdued, nocturnal atmosphere; each panel measures 36 x 51 in gold and silver leaf, part of Yoshio Imamura's 2017 diptych "Ogawa In the Spring / Ogawa In the Fall."
