Description
This untitled print by Yuhan Ito demonstrates his mastery of the tonal gradations that were central to 1930s shin-hanga production — the capacity to move from pale, diffused light at the edges of a scene to deeper, more concentrated shadow at its center. Without a title to direct interpretation, the viewer engages with the print on purely visual terms, reading its composition for the story of light and atmosphere that Ito tells through color and form.
