Description
A landscape by Yuhan Ito, untitled, unfolds in the characteristic soft tones of his shin-hanga practice. The artist's output included many such works — prints made for the market without formal titles, or works whose documentation was subsequently lost — and they constitute an important if underdocumented portion of his oeuvre. The print communicates through mood and atmosphere rather than through the specificity of a named place, which may in fact strengthen its emotional effect.
