Description
"Fuji in Snow" presents Japan's most iconic mountain in its winter aspect — the white cone of Fuji under a fresh covering of snow, a vision so familiar it has become almost abstract, the mountain reduced to its essential geometry of cone and white against sky. Yet Okuyama's sosaku-hanga treatment gives this most worn of Japanese subjects freshness through personal observation: the particular quality of light on snow at a particular time of day, the surrounding landscape's own winter character, the atmospheric conditions of a specific winter sky.
