Description
"Mountain Lake, Hakone — Ashinoko no Shinryoku" (New Green at Lake Ashi, Hakone) presents the famous caldera lake of the Hakone volcanic complex with its new spring greenery reflected in the still water, Mount Fuji sometimes visible across the lake on clear days. Lake Ashi is one of Japan's most celebrated scenic spots — its combination of volcanic crater landscape, mountain lake, and the dramatic frame of the Hakone mountains made it a destination for artists and tourists throughout the Edo and Meiji periods. Okuyama's "new green" timing captures the freshness of spring against the blue-grey water.
