$400–$3,000. Snow and night scenes tend to command premium prices for this artist. Key value factors: Okuyama's prints are relatively affordable. Bold, well-preserved examples are most valued.
"Unknown, Snowy Hut" presents a small structure — a farmhouse, a watchman's hut, a tea house, or a shelter of some kind — under snow, its roof bearing the weight of accumulated winter as it sits in a white landscape. The snowy hut as subject invites meditation on warmth and cold, shelter and exposure, the human-made and the natural: the hut is small against the snow that surrounds it, but its presence asserts the human claim on a hostile landscape. Okuyama's rendering captures both the structural specificity of the small building and the overwhelming whiteness of its setting.
