$400–$3,000. Common subjects: $400–$1,000. Key value factors: Okuyama's prints are relatively affordable. Bold, well-preserved examples are most valued.
"View of Mt. Fuji" is Okuyama's straightforward engagement with Japan's most painted subject — the perfect volcanic cone of Fuji seen across the surrounding landscape, its white cap and symmetrical form asserting themselves against sky and foreground. Okuyama's version of this most canonical of Japanese landscape subjects would have applied his direct, personal sosaku-hanga vision to a subject weighed down by centuries of accumulated treatment, finding in his particular angle, light, and season the fresh observation that the movement demanded even of its most familiar subjects.
