Description
This diptych print is divided into two vertical panels, each with a pale grey, mottled sky above a dense band of dark speckled texture and a solid black horizontal band along the bottom edge. Irregular white and cream masses with drips of gold and rust-brown pigment sit low in the composition, bordered by rough black-outlined contours suggesting eroded or weathered forms; fine speckling and vertical striations fill the middle register on both sides. The palette is restricted to grey, black, white, cream, and touches of ochre and rust, giving the abstract composition a muted, textured, sedimentary quality; it is credited to Hodaka Yoshida, titled "White Wall A.B.," dated 1991, and executed as a zinc etching and woodblock print.
