Description
One of Ishiwata Koitsu's untitled atmospheric prints, produced within the collaborative woodblock system of the shin-hanga movement. Whatever its subject — river or sea, temple or bridge, city by night or village in snow — the print demonstrates the atmospheric sensibility and technical refinement that defined Ishiwata's contribution to the tradition, his careful management of tonal gradation achieving the effects of mood and atmosphere that his most admired works are known for.
