Description
An atmospheric shin-hanga print by Ishiwata Koitsu whose subject has not been preserved in documentation. The print reflects his sustained engagement with the evocative possibilities of the woodblock medium, the collaborative production system of the New Prints movement allowing him to achieve levels of tonal refinement — particularly in the gradated skies and reflected water surfaces that appear so frequently in his documented work — that would have been difficult to achieve through solo printmaking.
