Description
An atmospheric print by Ishiwata Koitsu in the shin-hanga manner, its subject and title unrecorded in available documentation. The print participates in the tradition of Japanese landscape printmaking as refashioned by the New Prints movement, combining the compositional conventions of Edo-period meisho-e with the atmospheric naturalism that shin-hanga artists absorbed from Western painting, producing works that were simultaneously modern and deeply rooted in Japanese visual culture.
