Description
An unidentified woodblock print from Ishiwata Koitsu's body of atmospheric shin-hanga work. The print's subject is not documented, but the print itself preserves the visual qualities that distinguished his approach to landscape and urban subjects: the careful tonal gradation that rendered atmospheric effects with subtlety, the compositional sensitivity that found in ordinary Japanese places the elements of quiet beauty that his collectors most valued, and the technical refinement achieved through the collaborative printmaking process.
