Description
An atmospheric woodblock composition by Ishiwata Koitsu whose specific subject is unrecorded. Ishiwata was closely associated with the Yokohama and Kanagawa coastal areas, which appear frequently in his documented work alongside urban Tokyo subjects and more distant landscape views. This untitled print preserves the atmospheric sensibility of a painter-printmaker whose work was shaped by his close observation of the particular qualities of light and weather in the landscapes he inhabited and visited.
