This impression of the Miyajima winter sky composition shows some degree of variation from other recorded examples of the same design, consistent with the expected differences between early and later Watanabe edition printings. In later impressions, key-block lines may appear slightly thicker from block wear, and [bokashi](/glossary/bokashi) gradations in the sky and water areas can differ in extent and color. The torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine—framed against a broad open sky with the island's forested hills beyond—remains the central structural element. Close examination of the ink saturation in the water reflections and the precision of the architectural detail at the gate crossbeam helps situate this impression within the edition history.
