Description
Takatsu Shrine (Takatsu-gu) in Tennoji ward, Osaka — a Shinto shrine with origins traced to the tenth century, famous for its annual doll fair and its literary associations with Chikamatsu Monzaemon, who reportedly wrote some of his famous puppet plays in its precincts — appears in one of Kazuma's religious site prints from an unidentified series. The shrine's precincts, with their aged trees and traditional architectural ensemble, offered Kazuma the combination of history, natural beauty, and sacred atmosphere that consistently drew him to Kansai's religious sites.
