Yumoto Hot Spring at Nikkō — the thermal resort at the far end of Lake Chūzenji, set in the caldera of the Nantai volcanic complex — is depicted in this undated print with bathers visible in the outdoor pools. The Yumoto onsen, at an elevation of 1,478 metres, was among the highest-altitude resort establishments in the Kantō region, and its combination of mountain landscape and thermal bathing attracted visitors throughout the Meiji era. Kiyochika's treatment, tagged "Nude," focuses on the bathing figures as an element of the natural landscape rather than as the primary subject.
