Description
Against a near-black ground, several loosely rendered figures cluster around a reclining nude woman on a yellow patterned couch or chaise; a standing figure in a broad hat and striped garment appears at center, with additional figures in coats or jackets to either side. The palette is dominated by black, mustard yellow, and grey-white, with a small patch of pale blue in the lower left breaking the dark field. Forms are fragmented and overlapping, giving the composition a collaged, ambiguous sense of space rather than a coherent single setting.
Masuo Ikeda, *Scene on the beach*, 1970. Lithograph in colours on wove.
