Description
Kozanji Temple (B)—a related or reworked version of the Kozan-Ji Kyoto (B) print—shows Saito's practice of creating multiple variants on temple subjects, sometimes simply designating them differently across different collection records. The mountain temple setting gave him steep rooflines against forested ridges, a compositional vocabulary different from the garden temples of central Kyoto, where the horizontal dominates.
