The 1963 Shisendo Kyoto C—third in the series of Shisendo compositions—shows Saito in his most productive period deepening his engagement with this intimate garden rather than moving on to new subjects. His serial treatment of single sites across years and decades was itself a meditative practice, each new print asking what had not yet been seen, what formal angle remained unexplored. The (C) variant likely shows a compositional solution different from both the (G) and any earlier Shisendo versions.
