Shotei's landscapes are his most widely available works. Signed lifetime editions with strong color and condition represent good collector value. Post-earthquake reprints lacking signatures and seals are common and trade at lower prices.
Mount Fuji and Lake Yamanaka share the composition in one of the classic Fuji Five Lakes views: the still water doubling the mountain's cone below while the sky above transitions through careful [bokashi](/glossary/bokashi) gradation from zenith to horizon. Lake Yamanaka, the highest of the Five Lakes, sits closest to the mountain's base, and on calm mornings the reflection is nearly perfect. Shotei's treatment uses this doubling to create a sense of the mountain as both immovable physical mass and shimmering mirage.
