

Shotei's landscapes are his most widely available works. Signed lifetime editions with strong color and condition represent good collector value. Post-earthquake reprints lacking signatures and seals are common and trade at lower prices.
A snow-covered stretch of the historic Tokaido road, the ancient highway connecting Tokyo and Kyoto. Pine trees along the road are laden with snow, and a lone traveler makes their way along the white road. The composition evokes both the beauty and hardship of winter travel on the old roads, recalling the great Tokaido prints of Hiroshige.
