Key value factors: As self-carved and self-printed works, sosaku-hanga value is tied to the artist's reputation and edition size. Larger formats, earlier editions, and historically significant works command the highest prices.
The Yachi area within Towadako National Park in Aomori and Akita prefectures is depicted in the full glory of late autumn, when the deciduous forest turns to gold and red before losing its leaves. Towadako — Lake Towada — is the caldera lake at the center of the national park, and the Oirase gorge flows from it. Henmi's late-autumn landscape of this area contrasts with his winter and snow scenes of the same region, capturing the brief, spectacular moment before the season's color disappears.
