Description
Okuirase — the upper reaches of the Oirase gorge stream, above the section that most visitors walk — is depicted in late autumn, the deciduous trees at their peak color before the first snows arrive. Henmi's multiple treatments of the Oirase-area landscape across seasons demonstrate his sustained engagement with this particular landscape. The late-autumn Oirase, with its gold and rust foliage reflected in the clear mountain stream, was a subject of extraordinary visual richness.
