Description
An untitled woodblock print from Henmi's output. His work reached Paris in 1934, joining the international exhibition of Japanese sosaku-hanga prints that demonstrated to European audiences the vitality of a modern Japanese printmaking practice distinct from the commercial ukiyo-e tradition. The untitled prints are part of the body of work that supported this international reputation, images made with the same standards of personal craft and artistic integrity as his titled masterworks.
