Description
An untitled Henmi Takashi woodblock print, its subject unspecified but consistent with his characteristic range of mountain, water, urban, and nature subjects. Henmi's prints were exhibited internationally during his lifetime, recognized in Paris in 1934 as representative of a new Japanese printmaking practice that synthesized Western plein-air observational values with the technical traditions of Japanese woodblock. His untitled works represent the private, working dimension of this internationally recognized practice.
