Koitsu's daytime landscapes and non-nocturnal scenes are less common on the primary market but still reflect his mastery of atmosphere and color. Values have risen steadily over the past decade.
In this print a geisha pauses beneath a cherry tree in Ueno Park, the blossoms cascading above her in the annual explosion of pale pink that drew all of Tokyo to this parkland each spring. Koitsu combines his landscape sensitivity with the [bijin-ga](/glossary/bijin-ga) (beautiful woman) tradition, placing the elegantly kimono-clad figure within a setting whose fleeting beauty mirrors her own carefully cultivated grace. The cherry blossoms above cast the print's familiar meditation on beauty, impermanence, and the season's fragile gifts.
