Koitsu's daytime landscapes and non-nocturnal scenes are less common on the primary market but still reflect his mastery of atmosphere and color. Values have risen steadily over the past decade.
From Lake Kawaguchi at morning, Mount Fuji appears at its most serene — the night mists still clinging to the mountain's lower slopes, the lake surface perfectly calm before the wind rises, the reflected cone doubling the great mountain in the water. Koitsu captures this fleeting perfection of the mountain's morning mood, the light barely warm, the colors still cool from the night's air. Morning Fuji was one of the most sought-after views in the Fuji canon, requiring both the right conditions and the discipline to be at the lakeshore before dawn.
