Description
A snow-covered pine branch curves in from the upper left, its needles heavily laden with white, framing a small hexagonal pavilion built on stilts over the water. The scene is rendered almost entirely in deep blues, with snow falling against the dark sky and dotting the pavilion's roof and the lake's surface, while faint lights glow from within the structure. Tsuchiya Koitsu's 1934 woodblock print "Snow at Katata Ukimido" captures a quiet, nocturnal winter stillness over the lake.
