Description
Autumn arrives in the Japanese Alps with particular drama—the combination of high elevation and the complex microclimates created by deeply dissected mountain valleys produces color change that sweeps downward from the summits across several weeks. Azechi's autumn print would have used his characteristically bold palette to capture the burnt oranges and yellows of the dwarf maple and mountain ash against the blue-grey of distant ridges and the white that may already have fallen on the highest summits.
