$500–$5,000. Common mountain prints: $500–$1,500. Key value factors: Azechi's cheerful mountain prints have consistent demand. Larger and more complex compositions are most valued.
Girl Mountaineer places Azechi's female climbing subject alongside the overwhelmingly male population of his mountain world. Women climbers were a growing presence in Japanese mountaineering by mid-century, and their inclusion in his visual vocabulary acknowledged the reality of the climbing community he observed. The girl mountaineer—smaller in scale, lighter in equipment weight, but no less purposeful than the male climbers who dominate his output—appears in his bold simplified style as a distinct figure type.
