Road to Izumo Mountain Hot Spring

Before the description — the print's own pencil inscription reads "1942", not 1937, and the place name is 伊豆山 (Izusan), not "Izumo" (a different location entirely — Izusan is a hot spring near Atami, Shizuoka; Izumo is in Shimane). Worth checking the source record for this piece.

Description:

A steep ochre cliff terraced with dark pines rises on the left above a pale yellow dirt road, where a cluster of bare wooden posts stands near its base. On the right, a low pink-toned stone wall lined with green shrubs runs beside the road, separating it from a deep blue sea beneath a pale, faintly clouded sky. Hiratsuka Un'ichi rendered the empty coastal road in flat blocks of ochre, olive, pink, and blue for this color woodblock print.
