Description
The road to the Izumo mountain hot spring resort is rendered as a color woodblock landscape that includes, unexpectedly, a nude figure in the mountain setting. The juxtaposition — nude figure on a mountain road — is characteristic of Hiratsuka's willingness to combine figure and landscape subjects within a single composition. The 1942 color print belongs to his Shimane Prefecture series.
