Mt Fuji and lake

Description
A placid lake stretches before Mount Fuji in this quietly composed landscape by Yuhan Ito, the mountain's familiar cone reflected in the still water below. The composition is deliberately simple — mountain, lake, and sky — stripped of anecdote or embellishment, relying on the interaction of reflected forms and atmospheric color to carry its effect. Ito was drawn to this kind of austere Fuji composition, in which the mountain's identity as Japan's most recognized symbol paradoxically disappears into pure landscape.
