$400–$3,000. Snow and night scenes tend to command premium prices for this artist. Key value factors: Okuyama's prints are relatively affordable. Bold, well-preserved examples are most valued.
"Snow in Matsushima — Matsushima Godaido no Yuki" presents one of Japan's Three Views (Nihon sankei) under its most dramatic seasonal transformation: the pine-covered islands of Matsushima Bay in Miyagi Prefecture under snow, and specifically the small hexagonal Godaido hall that perches on a tiny island just off the shore, its ancient wooden form rendered white and silent by the winter. The pine trees that cover Matsushima's hundreds of small islands retain their dark green through the snow, creating the striking visual contrast between white snow and dark evergreen that Okuyama rendered with particular mastery.
