From Hasui's Tabi miyage dai nishū (Souvenirs of Travel, Second Series), this print records Miyajima—the island in Hiroshima Bay famous for Itsukushima Shrine—under a clear winter sky. The composition likely centers on the shrine's iconic vermillion torii gate rising from the tidal flats at low water, with the forested slopes of Mount Misen behind. A "fine winter's sky" suggests blue-white atmospheric clarity rather than overcast conditions, a subject Hasui would have rendered through precise bokashi gradations across a broad sky area. Printed on washi and issued through Watanabe Shozaburo's publishing house, this impression belongs to the second of Hasui's major travel series and marks one of his several treatments of Miyajima across his career.
