$1,000–$15,000. Common landscapes: $1,000–$3,000. Key value factors: Kasamatsu's early shin-hanga works (pre-1955) tend to be more valued than his later sosaku-hanga production.
The forested hills around Arashiyama in the Musashino district of Tokyo — distinct from the more famous Arashiyama in Kyoto — appear in their seasonal coloring, the dense mixed woodland catching the particular light of a clear autumn or summer day. Kasamatsu's Musashi Arashiyama refers to a stretch of scenic hillside in what is now the western suburbs of Tokyo, where wooded ridges offered a brief pastoral relief from the expanding city. The print documents a landscape now largely absorbed into urban development.
