$1,000–$15,000. Common landscapes: $1,000–$3,000. Key value factors: Kasamatsu's early shin-hanga works (pre-1955) tend to be more valued than his later sosaku-hanga production.
The garden of Sanzenin temple in Ohara, photographed in autumn 1960, shows the ancient moss garden beneath maples turning red, the low Buddhist hall of the Ojo-Gokuraku-in visible through the trees. Sanzenin's garden — one of the most celebrated in Japan — achieves its effect through the deep green of moss covering every surface, which in autumn contrast with the overhead canopy of deciduous trees in full color. Kasamatsu captures this layered chromatic drama in a late-career print reflecting his continued engagement with Kyoto's seasonal landscapes.
