Description
Against a deep indigo ground textured with fine mottled speckling, dozens of elongated four-pointed star shapes in pale blue, white, and lavender crisscross the composition at varying angles and sizes, denser toward the bottom edge. Scattered among them are a handful of soft-edged circular dots in warm yellow-gold and pale teal, standing out from the linear star forms. The overall effect is a rhythmic, abstract field of light against dark. "Night (stars)," woodblock print by Hodaka Yoshida, 1954.
