Description
Two bathers stand partly submerged in a rock-lined outdoor hot spring pool, sheltered beneath a dark wooden roof supported by a heavy post, with a rocky riverbank and pale stones visible behind them under overhanging green foliage. The palette is dominated by cool blue-greens in the water and rocks against the warm flesh tones of the figures, with the water rendered in rippling horizontal strokes reflecting their bodies. Shiro Kasamatsu's 1954 woodblock print "Sakunami Hot Spring" captures a quiet, intimate bathing scene under soft, diffused light.
