Description
Two figures sit shoulder-deep in a square wooden outdoor bath perched on a rocky ledge, their dark hair pinned up and bodies submerged in pale steaming water. The tub is wedged into a cliffside surrounded by grey-green rock outcroppings and dense foliage in shades of green with small red-orange accents, with a thin stream of water trickling down the rock at left. Rendered in muted greens, greys, and warm skin tones, the scene is quiet and secluded; vertical Japanese text runs along the upper left margin. Woodblock print, "Shirahone Onsen/信州白骨温泉" by Shiro Kasamatsu, 1935.
