Description

An abstract composition dominated by a single sprawling black form with a coarse, mottled grain, set against a pale cream ground. The shape is divided into angular, biomorphic segments joined by curving negative-space cutouts, with a small gray circular accent and a light-toned rectangular panel bearing a faint spiral or grid motif breaking up the black mass on the right side. The palette is limited to black, cream, and muted gray, giving the print a stark, graphic quality; the sheet is signed and dated in pencil at the lower right, with an inscription at the lower left. Woodblock print, "Sacrifice," Hodaka Yoshida, 1956.
